Mashikoyaki Donabe Ceramic Rice Cooker
- +

Let the scent of fresh rice waft through your home with your new rice cooker! You can cook up to two cups of rice in this donabe (clay pot), and you can even use the outer lid to measure rice or as a serving bowl! It was crafted by Tsukamoto, a 157-year-old kamamoto (pottery), maker based in Mashiko-cho, Tochigi. Tsukamoto is the master of mashikoyaki, which is a pottery style from the Edo Period. The pottery's clay is rich in silicic acid and iron which gives it a rustic look and a comfortable feel.

How to Use

Use the smaller lid to measure out one cup of rice. Rinse rice 2-3 times in cold water until the water becomes clear. Let the rice sit for 30 minutes. Rinse the rice again and use the same lid to measure out one cup of water per cup of rice. Bring the water to a boil, then cook on low for 20 minutes. Let the rice stand for 10 minutes and enjoy!

Please Note: Use the cooker on a gas stove only. It is not dishwasher safe. Hand wash the cooker and dry it immediately. Do not soak the cooker in water. Before using, treat the pot by boiling one cup of rice and two cups of water. Turn off the heat, empty out the rice, let it cool, and then air dry overnight in a well-ventilated place.
